Courtney and Bob's Wedding

I was the second shooter for Heather! at Courtney's wedding at the Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Courtney and Bob saw each other before the wedding. Courtney was waiting at the alter with her back to Bob as he came into the church. (We do the bride instead of the groom, because the bride usually shows more emotions than the groom.) That gave them some time to be together before the wedding, and it allowed us to capture their faces as they saw each other for the first time. It also allowed them to go straight to the ceremony without having to wait for pictures. It was very romantic.
Afterwards, we started taking pictures of the wedding party. Courtney's family is so much fun! As her sister came out of the church, she dropped the groom's ring. The only sound was a gasp from the wedding party and a clang as it hit the concrete and slowly rolled across the pavement. But Kendall is so funny, she soon had the bride laughing with her again.
I also thought it was sweet that her mother had saved the garter from her wedding for her daughter to wear on her wedding day. Courtney got married on her mother and father's anniversary.
The reception was held at the Speedway. During the dancing, the DJ had everyone that was married less than a certain number of years leave the dance floor. At the end the longest married couple was Courtney's grandparents. They have been married 52 years! And the dancing! It was so much fun to watch. Courtney's parents really know how to "get down"! I wish I had that much energy!
It was HOT, it was late when we left, but I wish I could do it every weekend!

Blog Revisions

I am working on my blog right now. I am trying to figure out how to make the pictures bigger. As you can see I have been successful on the vertica lbut not on the horizontal. I really like the look of the larger pictures! Hopefully I can figure out how to make this work. I also want to try to center them. I think it is getting better! Crystal, I didn't mean to cut off that much of your head!

Crystal's Bridal Session

I shot Crystal's bridal session yesterday. We spent over two hours taking pictures we were all starving by the time we were finished! Crystal and her mother had not eaten all day, but they didn't seem to mind the time we devoted to this shoot. We have some really beautiful shots from the session. I am going to post one right now, but I will add several others as soon as I am finished processing them. (This afternoon)

Why I Love Shooting Weddings

What an honor to be chosen by a bride to document the most important day in her life! Beyond that, I am allowed to see and document how much the couple loves each other. Everyone at the wedding is happy. What could be greater than that? Weddings are challenging becaesu no two are ever alike. The venues might be the same, but that is where similarities stop. Even camera techniques vary based on the available light and the action at each wedding.

I had so much fun shooting Lori's wedding! ( Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the venue and found out that the bride's sister was married to a former co-worker. When I was teaching Special Education at Rocky River Elementary I worked with David a fourth grade teacher.) Her family is such a fun-loving group. They were willing to try anything! I was also able to catch some really fun spontaneous moments, like the groomsman that caught the garter having it taken off his leg by another one of the guest. And David jumping as he was announced at the reception. I was very lucky with that shot! While my camera was not set up for such an action shot, when I saw him going up I had to shoot! I love the blur of the slow shutter speed because you can see the movement! I have NEVER had pictures like these!

Anyway, here are the pictures I promised in a previous post. ( I haven't had death threats or anyone calling to bribe me not to post them so I guess it is alright. :) )

Amanda's Wedding

Another Wedding Shot with the incomparable Heather Houston. I really enjoy shooting with Heather, but it was extremely hot the day we shot this wedding. (8/10/07 Just to show I am not that behind!)

Laura Beth's Wedding

OK, Heather says I am slack and that I need to be posting weddings that I do with her in addition to the weddings I am doing by myself! Therefore, I find myself severely behind. Here are some from the wedding of the lovely Laura Beth...

Ashley and Randy's Wedding

I had another beautiful wedding on Saturday! Ashley and Randy were married at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC. Their reception was held at The Warrior Golf Club in China Grove, NC.

Ashley and Randy are the cutest couple! She had a beautiful wedding! She really pays attention to details and the latest must have accessories for weddings. You can see her attention to detail at the alter of the church. She also had the most beautiful cake! If it tasted as good as it looked it must have been heavenly! (Unfortunately, I am dieting!) Randy looked great in his tux! He is leaving for the Air Force as soon as the honeymoon is over. Maybe he should have tried modeling instead. I love the picture of them leaving the church. It's 3 am so time to get to the photos...

Ian and Lori's Wedding

I photographed Ian and Lori's wedding on Sunday. Lori is the most organized bride! Lori and Ian are some of the nicest people I have ever met. You can tell they adore each other. It wasn't quite as hot as the last several weddings, but the sun is difficult to work with at that time of day! They did a wonderful job without squinting too much. I was also surprised to learn that I actually knew Lori's brother-in-law! We had worked together at Rocky River Elementary. David's daughter is absolutely beautiful! She shows her attitude with her hands on her hips in one of the following pictures. It seems to be a tradition with some of the family members to stick your tongue out during wedding pictures and see if the photographer can catch you... hmmmm, I am thinking about doing a collage of the funny faces I captured during the wedding. (And there were quite a few!) Of course I have to finish processing the pictures first! I had a great time at the wedding! I am glad they allowed me to be a part of their special day. I am also going to publish a picture of the bridesmaids and maybe a couple of groomsmen.
